Wipers are a common accessory on cars. Sometimes, after being used for a long time, they may cause problems such as not being able to wipe cleanly and making abnormal noises. Sometimes, it will affect the driving vision, which is very unsafe.
Some friends may choose to replace the wipers directly, while others want to repair them themselves, but don’t know what to do. So today I will share with you the problem of wiper repair.

What are the main reasons why the wiper cannot wipe cleanly?
1. Durability and aging resistance of rubber strips
The most common situation where the windshield wipers fail to wipe cleanly is that water marks are left on the glass after being wiped.
The most common reason is that the rubber strip is contaminated, aged, or damaged. For example, the rubber strip ages naturally, dust and sand fall on the glass and contaminate the wiper, or the wiper blade loses its elasticity.
In this case, you can use a wet towel and paper towel to gently wipe the rubber strip clean.

However, if the wipers are used for more than a year, the rubber strips may harden and have gaps and cracks due to exposure to the sun and rain. At this time, wiping the rubber strips will cause some small sand and stones on it to embed into the gaps, making it more difficult to scrape the water clean.
There is a way to solve this problem yourself, which is to use sandpaper to grind the rubber strip back and forth to smooth the gap. However, do not use too much force when grinding, and do not use this method too many times, because the rubber strip of the wiper is made of rubber, and excessive grinding will damage the outer rubber surface, which will produce strange noises when scraping water.

2. Wiper blade spring damaged
The wiper blades may not scrape cleanly due to spring damage.
There is a spring where the wiper arm connects to the car body. After long-term use, the spring may become loose and rusty, causing changes and uneven distribution of pressure in the wiper arm, making the wiper unable to wipe cleanly.
In this case, you will just have to replace the part.

3. The windshield itself is dirty
Another reason why the windshield cannot be wiped clean is that there are some foreign objects or oil films on the windshield itself, which has nothing to do with the wipers.
For example, if some cars are parked under a tree, there may be some insects crawling over or bird droppings falling; or if you drive to a dusty place, fine sand will adhere to the windshield and turn into an oil film after it rains.
If you want to handle this situation yourself, you can buy a bottle of glass degreasing agent and clean the windshield.

Conclusion
In short, you should just pay attention to the condition of your wipers from time to time. Generally, the wiper strips are made of rubber and will naturally age after half a year to a year.
If the strips have obvious cracks, or the methods I mentioned above still don’t work, you can change a pair of wipers.
